Occupation Commercial Appraiser
With my extensive background in the Bureau of Elections, I have become well-versed in the intricacies of election law. I am proficient in the operations of our election software. I possess the skills to program and diagnose issues with our voting machines. I am committed to ensuring our elections are fair, free, and transparent. I bring a solid background in recording and filing, which will be instrumental in effectively managing the duties of the clerk's office.
My primary goal is to ensure voter transparency. I intend to enlist a specialist specifically focused on voter outreach. This hire will be useful in engaging the community, providing accurate information, and enhancing overall voter awareness. This action aims to strengthen democratic participation and assist informed decision-making among voters.
The clerk's office has the potential to boost voter turnout through various initiatives, by implementing outreach programs, voter education, streamlining registration processes, and collaborating with community organizations, the clerk's office can actively encourage voter participation.
The primary challenge of the clerk's office is adapting to changing technologies, my plan involves modernizing the clerk's office to meet current standards. By transitioning public documents to online platforms, I aim to streamline processes, minimize inefficiencies, and optimize resources. This approach not only enhances accessibility for constituents but also supports greater transparency and efficiency within the office.
Maintaining the clerk's position as an elected role is essential, but I suggest qualifications for candidacy. By setting specific criteria for individuals to be included on the ballot, we can ensure that candidates possess the necessary skills and experience to effectively serve in this vital role. This approach balances democratic principles with the need for competency and ensures that those seeking the position are equipped to fulfill their responsibilities.

Occupation Valencia County Clerk
During my first term as Valencia County Clerk, I completed studies and received certification as a New Mexico Certified County Clerk, Certified Public Official, and Certified Advocate of Public Ethics. I have been very involved in the legislative process, working to ensure our elections continue to be safe and secure, and passing legislation that enables better functionality in all areas of the Clerk's Office.
Election integrity is very important to me, and my goal is to educate the public on how safe and secure our elections are in New Mexico. I have an open door policy in my office, and I invite the public to observe how our ballot tabulators are tested and certified before every election, or get involved by becoming a poll worker at one of our voting sites.
Yes, by increasing voter outreach through all available sources, especially social media.
The biggest challenge is to motivate voters to get out and vote. Many people feel their one vote doesn't make a difference. In several recent elections, races were decided by less than 5 votes. Every Vote does matter, and every vote does make a difference.
In my opinion, the County Clerk should be an elected position, but non-partisan, like school board positions for instance. The public still votes for the best person for the job, but removes the political aspect.
