As a successful businessman, I understand the nuance of finances, balancing a budge, making payroll, use of tools and personnel, and integration of all skills to insure proper completion of projects and task set firth. As a sitting commissioner I have been instrumental in keeping a balanced budget while pushing through the appropriation of the new hospital and other projects.
I have learned that many situations change from one day to the next. In times of crisis or emergency, I adapt to the situation at hand but throughout all daily changes- my concerns and thought are for the well being of my constituents.
I am currently working with the Valencia County Fire Chief to get the VCFD state certified for transport (both medical and trauma) to decrease any delay of transport for our citizens.
Yes. We have updated the Valencia County Comprehensive Plan. This protects our green belt, and we are in constant communication with all other agencies- from local to federal - to ensure that proper rights and usage are in conjunction with the plan.
By keeping the Comprehensive Plan updated. this allows the rural areas of Valencia County to expand in a cohesive manner that promotes Quality of Life.
By working with our local municipalities and state entities, we are creating a symbiotic relationship that supplies, maintains, and works toward a well planned and thought-out infrastructure. planning and communication are key to this.
This is currently being done. We have - through the Valencia County Emergency Response manger. We have the ability to actively respond to county and municipalities when called on.

Occupation Retired.
Over 25 years of experience in County Government as an Elected Official & Employee. Probate Judge (1) term. County Commissioner (3) terms. County Fire Chief. (Retired)
Illegal dumping of the east and west Mesa. A comprehensive review of the solid waste management program.
Work closely with our sheriff and Fire Chief and thoroughly fund their needs to protect the community. Aggressively seek federal and state grants.
Yes ! I would work closely with both the state engineers office and the Middle Rio Grade Conservancy Board, To assure the residents have adequate drinking water and irrigation water.
The most important tool here is use of the comprehensive plan. It allows development in areas with proper designation and preservation in other area’s. Failure to utilize this plan will create the undesirable situations.
The county needs to have a long term infrastructure plan in place. The only way to fund these needs long term would be with long term funding requests to the State and Federal Government.
Absolutely !! It’s important that the County be involved though it’s Office of Emergency Management. For planning, training of local responders in the event of a disaster. And it prepares Our personal locally to work with state and federal agencies. Also enables us the ability to seek federal grants for equipment, preparedness.
