Currently our county is in a time of transition. One of the biggest challenges the county faces now is the future of strong, stable leadership and management in county government. The county also faces perennial issue such as water scarcity, economic development issues and climate issues such as drought and wildfire. These issues disrupt our primary industries or agriculture and tourism, as well as our local economy and local residents.
I would address the concerns listed above by lending my problem solving abilities and strategic thinking to the issues while searching for long term, stable and constructive solutions. Recruiting and placing proper people in positions of leadership in management while providing support and resources necessary for effective county government.
To support economic development in our county it will be important to attract and retain business by highlighting our natural beauty and resources. Additionally improvements in our county infrastructure will attract businesses and industry which in turn will foster an avenue for development of skilled workforce.
Balancing growth with water scarcity in an arid county is a multifaceted challenge that requires thoughtful strategies. Some approaches include improving water efficiency, educating communities about thoughtful water management practices, monitoring and managing groundwater resources.
