Submitted Biography I was born in Pueblo and raised on the The Mesa. I graduated as valedictorian from Pueblo County High School and earned my bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Arizona. I spent eight years working in the freight railroad industry. I am a proud husband to a physician and business owner and father to a two-year-old boy and another on the way.

My top priorities are improving education and career opportunities for youth, upgrading aging infrastructure, and enhancing public safety. In my first 100 days, I will collaborate with schools and local businesses to expand vocational training and apprenticeships in growing industries like renewable energy, technology, and healthcare. I’ll secure state and federal funding to modernize water systems, expand broadband, and improve roads, particularly in underserved areas. For public safety, I will prioritize community policing, increase mental health services, and build trust between law enforcement and residents. By tackling these issues, we’ll build a stronger and more prosperous Pueblo County.
My financial and budgeting decisions will be guided by several key factors. First, I will prioritize investments that directly improve the quality of life for Pueblo County residents, such as education, infrastructure, and public safety. Second, I will focus on fiscal responsibility, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and that wasteful spending is eliminated. Third, I will seek to maximize external funding sources, including state and federal grants, to supplement our local budget. Finally, transparency and community input will be central to my approach, ensuring that budget decisions reflect the needs and values of all Pueblo voices.
I believe we can take common-sense steps to curb gun violence while respecting the rights of responsible gun owners. Our focus should be on improving background checks to ensure that firearms don't fall into the hands of those who pose a danger to the public. Additionally, supporting mental health services and early intervention programs can help address root causes of violence before it escalates. School safety is also crucial, and I support increased funding for safety measures and programs that protect our children. By working together, we can enhance public safety without infringing on lawful gun ownership.
To address environmental issues like drought, wildfires, and air quality, I would focus on proactive, sustainable solutions. For drought, I would work to improve water conservation efforts by supporting infrastructure upgrades for more efficient water use and promoting drought-resistant agricultural practices. To mitigate wildfire risks, I’d advocate for better forest management, including controlled burns and clearing hazardous vegetation, while ensuring our emergency services are well-equipped to respond quickly. For air quality, I would encourage the adoption of clean energy technologies and stricter regulations on industrial emissions. These steps will help protect our environment and community health for future generations.
To ensure affordable housing is available, I would take a multi-faceted approach. First, I would work to incentivize the development of affordable housing through public-private partnerships and streamlined permitting processes. This would encourage developers to build more affordable units. Second, I’d support updating zoning laws to allow for more diverse housing options, like duplexes and accessory dwelling units, which can increase supply. Additionally, I would advocate for expanding rental assistance programs and exploring land trusts to keep housing costs down. Lastly, collaborating with local organizations to provide financial education and support for first-time homebuyers would be key.
County government should focus on maintaining public safety and providing essential services to all residents, rather than directly enforcing immigration laws, which is primarily the responsibility of federal agencies. Local law enforcement should prioritize building trust with all communities, ensuring that people feel safe reporting crimes or seeking help without fear of immigration-related consequences. By fostering collaboration with federal authorities where appropriate, the county can ensure compliance with the law while avoiding practices that might erode trust between law enforcement and immigrant communities, ultimately keeping everyone safer.
I decided to run for office and serve the people of Pueblo County to raise the standard of professionalism, transparency, and critical thinking in local government. I believe Pueblo County’s brightest days are ahead of us, and I am committed to being part of the next generation of leadership that will help us reach that future. My goal is to foster prosperity, ensure safety, and promote the health of our community through responsible, thoughtful decision-making that listens to all voices and reflects the needs of every resident in Pueblo County.
