Submitted Biography The story of Adams County, is my family's story. Adams County has a deep agricultural history and growing up I remember driving to my grandfather's vegetable farm, passing many large family farms from Brighton, unincorporated Adams County, Welby, and Thornton. My family has been part of Adams County for over 100 years, where my grandparents, mom and dad all worked the soil, cultivated crops and put food on the table for their family and families in Adams County and the surrounding Denver metro region. My journey of service began 20 years ago, when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and it was during my treatments, I began to volunteer at my church and the 27J school district. As I got stronger, I applied for and was appointed to the Brighton Parks advisory board - where I served on the inaugural agricultural land preservation committee and served two terms as a Brighton City Council member. I am running for re-election for County Commissioner this November.

My top priorities include public safety, housing solutions, clean air and water, preserving farmland and continue to improve our parks, trails and outdoor recreation spaces and to work on economic development.

I am honored to have received the 2024 Endorsement from the Adams County Fraternal Order of Police. In my first 100 days, I will continue to work with the Adams County Sheriff's Office, our local law enforcement and fire districts. I will continue to serve on local and state boards, be in contact with local non-profits to continue to address our environmental challenges, including continuing our state and federal lobbying efforts.

I will advocate for Adams County that we remain an attractive place for new business, that pay a high wage to our residents.
My approach to financial and budgeting decisions is a pragmatic approach - that we operate within our means, our facilities, programs and service meet the current needs of community and address future growth and critical needs going forward. I will work collaboratively with the commissioners and county administration, on identifying our short term and long-term priorities and have a budget that reflects our values, that is balanced, meets service demands and invests in the future infrastructure of Adams County.
I worked for the City of Aurora during the time of the theatre shootings and experienced firsthand the anguish that gun violence has on our community members, our workers, law enforcement and neighborhoods. I am open to learn, be an ally and to support thoughtful conversations to curb gun violence.
In my first four years in office, I have been fortunate to work on environmental boards and issues including being appointed by Governor Polis to the State's Orphan Well Enterprise and also the Nonattainment Area Air Pollution Mitigation Enterprise.

Adams County has one of the top 10 polluted zip codes in the United States, so I would continue to implement and update our environmental policy at Adams County, meet with our Congressional Delegation (Rep. Crow and Caraveo), our national and regional Environmental Protection Agency Offices, and our local non-profits.

I will continue to work with Commissioners across metro Denver on air quality, transportation, transit and mobility funding and programs.
I have and will continue to support programs that address the entire housing spectrum - from homelessness all the way to home ownership.

There has been a tremendous shift in housing development - and we need to have a productive conversation on the State of Colorado's housing construction defects law. In addition, government alone cannot solve housing or affordable housing, we must work collaboratively with home developers to understand the need of middle housing.
Immigration needs to be reformed at the federal level. I support public safety, keeping our families and neighborhood safe while ensuring our first responders and law enforcement is highly trained and well paid. I will continue to work with the Adams County Sheriff's Department, our state and local officials on any future changes of immigration reform.
I am running for re-election this November because Adams County is my home and I care deeply about the residents that live here and the issues that we face - including clean air and water, affordable housing, a fair wage for an honest days work, addressing and improving infrastructure, preserving farmland and enhancing our Colorado way of life through open space and outdoor recreation.

I want to serve now because the story of Adams County is my story. I know firsthand being a non-traditional college student, struggling to buy my first home in Thornton, to attend college and work fulltime to obtain my college degree. The County is positioned for additional growth, I will work on behalf of our residents to ensure an economy that works for all of us, that the metro region also does their fair share on housing, clean air and water solutions.
