County Commission District 4

The Board of County Commissioners is the legislative and policy-setting body for Palm Beach County government. Seven commissioners are elected, in staggered years, from single-member districts to represent the entire county. A commissioner is limited to two consecutive terms, each term lasting four years. The commission itself elects the county mayor to preside over its meetings and serve as ceremonial head of county government, as well as a vice mayor to fill in for the mayor. Commission meetings and workshops are held on Tuesdays; all are open to the public. The FY 2025-26 salary for a County Commissioner is $127,320.

Regardless of whether the property tax referendum passes or fails, we’re identifying savings and revenue opportunities. We’re right-sizing departments by removing long-vacant positions and exploring technology to improve staff efficiencies. Revenue ideas include beach parking, advertising, and cell tower leases. We’re also considering placing the Sheriff in an MSTU separate from the general fund. If the referendum passes, balancing the budget will require reducing or eliminating some services.
Traffic congestion and transportation The BCC is currently building the first county-wide transportation master plan. It took two years of working with all 39 municipalities and the school district to hire a consultant to consolidate the various planning, zoning and mobility plans into a single county-wide plan. We are months away from receiving the results and can then begin implementing solutions. My plan for the first project is to implement a smart network for traffic signals.
