PBSO is in full compliance with the data collection required by State Statute, and submits it to the State as required. PBSO also has policies and procedures in place to prevent profiling, and a method to investigate any complaints.
I would like to see the County develop a system for the Sheriff to have a separate contingency account in case of emergencies . Now the Sheriff has to rely on the County to fund any emergency expenditure.
The vast majority of the time, when a new law is passed it does not have any funding associated with it, making it an unfunded mandate. I would like to see funding attached to new laws.
As Sheriff, we are constantly improving our technology, which makes us more efficient and effective. We are now in the process of adding new technology to our body worn camera system, making PBSO the first agency in the southeastern United States with this technology. This is an ongoing process.

I do not condone racial profiling and have brought training programs to the Agency to discourage it. The current Sheriff has been resistant and slow to adopt technical programs that monitor all interactions. i will immediately implement advanced data collection programs.
When I take office, i will have a full forensic audit conducted. In addition, I will employ an Inspector General to have full access to all accounts and files. I have a history of fiscal conservatism and will adjust the runaway budget and provide relief to the taxpayers.
I will advocate for comprehensive laws dealing with scams and crimes against the elderly. I will partner with legislators at all levels to deal with homelessness, substance abuse disorder and mental health treatment and the appropriate funding to address adequate care and recovery.
The Agency is "top heavy" and needs to be restructured. I have plans in place to put our Agency back to work. I have programs to initiate, that will have team leaders report on their teams success in reducing crime at all levels. Return community policing and the successful programs that enhance the quality of life for all neighborhoods. I build partnerships at all levels. Government agencies, business owners and residents working together. Exactly like I have done in my career.
