VOTE411 Voter Guide

Palm Beach Soil and Water Conservation Group 3

Led by a nonpartisan Board of Supervisors, the District strives to educate residents, land users and businesses on ways to protect natural resources, promote best management practices, and conserve, improve and sustain the environment. It is one of 58 such districts in Florida, and nearly 3,000 nationwide, after soil and water conservation became a Congressional priority in the 1930s Dust Bowl. A not-for-profit 501(c)(3), the District is a division of the State of Florida. It does not levy taxes, issue bonds or enforce land use laws. It works with agencies and local businesses countywide to provide conservation services — including evaluations by a mobile irrigation lab — at reduced rates. The five-member Board of Supervisors is locally elected and all serve without pay; terms are four years. Supervisors must be engaged or employed in or retired from agriculture, but the state allows eligible voters without those qualifications to seek election if no one with the agricultural background files to run.

The Palm Beach Soil & Water Conservation District focuses on something very practical: protecting the soil and water that everything in this county depends on. Specifically this helps landowners and local partners reduce runoff, improve water quality, and use conservation practices that actually work on the ground. It also supports education and small-scale projects that can still make a real difference. I support keeping it focused, transparent, and results driven.
I have a background in accounting which has helped me look closely at how gov't finances are best utilized. I’m also currently earning my RN nursing degree, which has helped me better understand how water quality connects directly to public health. Outside of work & school, I spend time in Florida’s natural areas & at aquariums, which keeps me connected to local water systems in a hands-on way. I bring monetary discipline, science awareness & a respect for conservation work that produces results
My top priority if elected would be to improve water quality and protect long-term water resources in Palm Beach County. That means supporting conservation practices that reduce runoff at the source, improving water quality monitoring, and making sure projects are chosen based on real, measurable results. I’d also want to keep the district efficient and accountable so taxpayer dollars are going where they are most impactful.
Yes. Agriculture is an important part of Palm Beach County’s economy, but it’s also closely tied to how land and water are managed. Farmers depend on healthy soil and reliable water, and good conservation practices help keep agriculture productive while protecting natural resources. The district should continue supporting farmers with the tools and resources they need to do both.
