1) Affordability 2) Immigration 3) Redistricting/Gerrymandering
The cost of living is unsustainable for most Americans. Every fill up at the gas pump, grocery run, utility bill or health insurance cost induces stress. We must counter the tariffs and reckless war in Iran that are raising prices. On healthcare, I am a leader in the fight to extend the ACA premium tax credits that are vital to families' bottom line. We must protect Medicare & Medicaid from cuts.
We must fix our broken immigration system. I support reform including: rigorous border security, fixing the asylum system, & giving work authorization to the millions of undocumented individuals here since Jan. 20, 2017 who haven't committed crimes. I support the DREAM Act and Farm Workforce Modernization Act. I'll continue to oppose ICE's illegal and immoral enforcement abuses.
Gerrymandering creates an overwhelming number of safe seats, encouraging Democrats & Republicans to pander to their extreme bases who vote in primaries.
The federal government has a responsibility to ensure transparency, and to rid politics of dark money influence. I’ve spent my career making sure my constituents’ voices were heard over corrupt politicians bought by Big Money groups, and I am proud to have been endorsed by End Citizens United.
I have cosponsored the Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections Act (DISCLOSE), the Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act, amongst others, and I will continue to support legislation that increases transparency and accountability to protect American elections from corrupt politicians and foreign influence.
I am disappointed by the Supreme Court's recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais. Any attempt to invalidate any or all portions of the Voting Rights Act is extremely troubling, and I strongly oppose it.
It doesn’t make any sense to carve up communities for political gain, which is exactly what this is, especially when those communities of interest have historically had their voice suppressed at the ballot.
Voting rights are fundamental to a functioning democracy. As a society, we have a responsibility to build institutions that protect those rights and encourage meaningful participation in politics and government.
I was a proud cosponsor of the For the People Act of 2021, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2021, and the Freedom to Vote Act.
Climate change is an undeniable reality that demands bold solutions to protect Long Island, Queens, and the world. My commitment to this fight is longstanding; I am proud to have been named Environmentalist of the Year for New York State and, most recently in 2025, to have received the Clean Water Champion Award from the New York League of Conservation Voters.
With a record of recognition from the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters, and NRDC action fund, I will continue to champion legislation that protects the critical progress we've made.
I remain a steadfast supporter of the federal agencies and legislation vital to this mission, including the EPA, the Department of Energy, and the Endangered Species Act. Furthermore, as the world's wealthiest nation, the United States must honor its Paris Agreement commitments and lead the global community in environmental innovation and protection.
It is crucial that the United States support our democratic allies throughout the world and engage in robust and collaborative partnerships with other members of international institutions. We must absolutely reject any isolationist or extremist tendencies. Standing with our allies helps us fight back against authoritarian adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran, who try to divide us from within and threaten the alliances of free nations participating in international collaboration.
Experience and Qualifications
Professionally, I have spent my entire career protecting our constitutional rights as a public defender. We urgently need representatives who are willing and able to fight back against a government that is abusing its power. That is what public defenders do. In addition to more than a decade of legal experience, I also have relevant life experience as a first-generation college graduate, a union member, and the mom of a young daughter. I understand the challenges facing everyday people in this country, because I have experienced many of them myself. Those problems are solvable, but when most members of Congress are millionaires, they aren't being treated with the urgency they demand.

1) Constitutional Crisis—
Congress needs to take its role as a check on both the executive and judicial branches seriously. I support reforming the Supreme Court, accountability for government officials who abuse their power (including impeachment), ending the Iran war, getting money out of politics, strengthening ethical standards and implementing independent oversight for every branch. Our government should serve everyone, not just the most powerful.
2) Wealth inequality/Affordability—
I support policies that would make life easier for everyone, like single-payer healthcare, universal childcare, a living wage, and expanded social security benefits. Union membership should be the norm. Tax billionaires.
3) Immigration—
Immigration is good. Our laws should reflect that. I support a safe, simple, fair system with expanded legal pathways and a right to counsel. I support abolishing ICE and ensuring that future enforcement is humane, dignified, and does not include concentration camps.
We urgently need to remove money from elections. The federal government should work alongside state governments to enact major reforms. Our democracy cannot survive when billionaires can buy elections and candidates are judged on their fundraising instead of their ideas.
At the federal level, I support an amendment defining a "person" as a natural person (a human being) to overturn Citizens United. Creating a public campaign finance system would make it much more feasible for candidates without wealthy networks to run competitive races and reduce corruption. Congress could also create incentives for states to adopt laws like the one just passed in Hawaii, which redefines corporations in a way that precludes spending on elections. (A similar law is being considered in NY, which I encourage my representatives to support.)
The Supreme Court has abandoned all concern for the rule of law and its own institutional legitimacy, so the decision did not surprise me.
Even so, the decision to gut the Voting Rights Act is equal parts devastating and dangerous. Black voters and other marginalized groups deserve an equal voice in their government. The fact that it took several years for states to implement Brown and desegregate their schools, but only days to implement Callais and begin erasing majority-Black Congressional districts speaks volumes. The heroes of the civil rights movement paid for the Voting Rights Act in blood. Everyone who played a role in destroying it should be ashamed of themselves.
If elected, I would work to ensure that we have free and fair elections in which every person's voice matters, regardless of the color of their skin or the state they live in. Marginalized groups have been disenfranchised for far too much of our nation's history. It is immoral and undemocratic to go backwards.
Climate change is an existential crisis and must be treated as such. The United States has the resources to be leading the world on this issue. Instead, we have the embarrassing distinction of being the only state party to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
We owe it to our children to do everything in our power to ensure they have a livable planet. To that end, I would co-sponsor the Green New Deal. I support reinstating the tax credit for EVs, and transitioning to clean, renewable energy sources as quickly as possible. I also support publicly owned utilities, which would both save people money and remove the profit incentive to prolong our dependence on fossil fuels. We must end fracking and restore the environmental regulations that have been gutted by this administration. I also support a moratorium on building data centers until strict regulations for their energy use, water use, and pollution are in place and existing centers have been brought into compliance.
The US has a responsibility to support and respect the legitimacy of international institutions. International law must apply to everyone—including the US and our allies—and human rights must be protected everywhere.
Broadly, the US must move towards a framework of global cooperation instead of continuing the violent displays of dominance and callous indifference to human suffering that have come to define our foreign policy. It is embarrassing that our allies cannot trust us, that people who depended on USAID are dying preventable deaths, and that our leaders are refusing to cooperate in efforts to combat climate change.
It is not too late to choose international cooperation. We have the potential to solve the climate crisis, eradicate many illnesses globally, and end hunger and extreme poverty. A better world is still possible, and the US should support the international institutions that will help us build it.
