Kandiyohi County Commissioner District 4

County commissioners are the county s key policymakers. They oversee the administration of the county, set county budget, and participate in county long-range planning. County services that they oversee include a wide variety of social service and welfare programs, as well as certain public health programs. As has been in the past, my priorities are; economic development, service to our constituents, and fair taxation for the taxpayers of the county.

Growth in the local economy allows prosperity, job creation and an expanded tax capacity. The best way--and we have achieved that in the past several years-- is a strong infrastructure (roads, bridges, water and wastewater, and promotion of tourism. Growth always follows investment in roads.

Kandiyohi County has long been regarded for the service to our constituents. Service to our veterans, homeless, mental health, those in need of public health, those that are not meeting their needs and public safety are things we take pride in providing.

We do all this with an eye for keeping the levy fair.
By continuing to provide safe and secure election processes. Safety and respect for election judges, access to voting material and making sure the election process is kept safe from fraud. Answering any question that a voter may have when trying to execute this privilege.

MN has one of the safest election processes in the US. It is the counties' responsibility to maintain the integrity of the process. We follow all the guidelines and recommended procedures put forth by the Secretary of State.
Adequate funding from the state and federal government, along with modern technology that allows staff to efficiently serve this community.

The way to address the problem from the county level, is to continue to advocate for legislative measures that provide counties with the necessary tools to serve the need.
Transperancy is needed in this local style of government. At this level you are known as a commissioner and the people can actually talk to you. At this ground level they need to know what is transpiring. Youth and mental health - The services that are offered in our county are not sufficient for those families in need. There needs to be more County financed programs for kids with mental health issues.. Infrastructure- Including but not limited to roads, Buildings, Plats for housing,

As commissioners we are stewards of the county and the funds that they have. They are not in the business to save, but to make sure to spend, but to do so that is best for all members of the county Not just the district that they represent.
Due to this being a county position, I don't believe that the Commissioners have the authority to make changes in election process. If it were something we could change, I would be fully in agreement with the having to provide a drivers license or proof of address. But I also think it is mandatory to have excellent election judges who will act in fairness and with blatant honesty.
This is one of the top three at the top and glad you are asking. The mental health services are at a costly level that a lot of families cannot afford to have their children assisted with mental health issues. Which in turn is then causing a shortage in beds available for kids in need due to truancy because of the inability to get help. The Health care of our children is vital as we need to mold and develop our youth of today to be leaders of tomorrow, NOT the entitlement that is seen today.
