Professionally, I have spent the past 25 years in HR Technology and Consulting and have held roles in executive leadership, strategic partnerships and sales. My unique skill set will enable me to partner with our city council and amazing city staff, thoughtfully navigate our city's continued redevelopment, fight for the best possible outcome for Robbinsdale residents and businesses regarding the Blue Line Extension, and work to ensure Robbinsdale is an inclusive, affordable, safe, and fun community to live and work.
The Blue Line Extension has been at the forefront of my discussions. A significant number of residents are against the suggested route along Highway 81. Ensuring safety is crucial; the community is seeking guarantees that our fire and police departments are adequately staffed. With the cost of living skyrocketing, there’s a pressing need for the city to keep a tight rein on expenses for programs and services. Finally, we like to have fun and want visitors to experience our city's unique charm.
This topic holds a special place in my heart because, as I've become more engaged with the city, I've noticed that many residents do not engage or are unsure about how to participate in our city's governance. My personal mission is to be accessible to residents and to continually educate them on how to stay informed about their government and how they can be heard. When the public is paying attention, there is no option but to be transparent, ethical, and accountable for your actions.
As I compose this, I can feel my anxiety rising, having already experienced how unkind people can be. However, I know that passion often surpasses grace, and it's essential to remain patient and look beyond the unpleasantness to understand the issues at hand - this is how I operate. I intend to remain present in our community so residents can approach me in person. I will be available by email and phone. Lastly (and gulp), I plan to remain present in our Facebook community pages as well.
As Mayor, I want to highlight that I have only one of five votes; my actions depend on the support of my fellow council members and the guidance of our city manager. However, I am a strong advocate for our police and fire departments. Both are performing exceptionally well, yet we are facing staffing shortages. I am dedicated to providing my support and, when necessary, my guidance, utilizing my Human Capital (HR) expertise. A safe community is vital for a thriving community.
