Education/Degrees Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Juris Doctorate in Law
Professional Experience I have over 32 years of litigation experience and have handled tens of thousand of misdemeanor cases. These are the same cases that the Court I am running for handles exclusively. I have practiced in over 20 Texas jurisdictions, handling cases with a very broad range of Judges allowing me a very diverse litigation experience. I am the only candidate that has handled this many misdemeanor cases and in this many jurisdictions. I am the only candidate that has tried cases from Murder to misdemeanor and the only candidate to have tried cases in Federal, State and misdemeanor Courts. I am also the only candidate to have argued before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in Louisiana. Less than 1/10 of 1 percent of attorneys get this chance.
Community Involvement I have done countless hours of probono work, help young students that intend to go to Law School with prep and supplies and have coached and counseled students in Mock Trial. I provide office space, advice and counseling for new lawyers free of charge when they are first starting. I clean up and build mountain bike and hiking trails in our area. I also speak at schools for career day at local schools, contribute to jackets and other things for school children that can't afford them and other school and student related activities.
I have over 32 years handling tens of thousands of cases that are exactly the type of case this Court handles exclusively. I have practiced in over 20 Texas jurisdictions, exposing me to countless other Courts. I have tried from murders to traffic tickets and have tried Federal and State cases.
I have always been fair, level headed and efficient. I have a deep legal knowledge base, due to the 32 years of experience and diversity of Courts I have practiced in. I am impartial, have good judgment and my integrity is proven. I have always shown respect to others and am able to remain emotionally disciplined at times when matters get contested. I am comfortable speaking in front of people and I don't get intimidated. I will apply the law faithfully, explain it clearly, and treat people fairly—especially when it’s hard. I will be impartial and able to recognize any bias or conflict to ensure the rights of people are protected. I will recognize the need to move matters quickly without jeopardizing the rights of anyone.
The delay and long time cases often take to get resolved. I will ensure that all matters are set for trial in a reasonable time without unnecessary delays. I would make sure defendants that are in jail do not remain there unnecessarily.
Our election process makes us accountable and has been a success for over 200 years. It enables the voters to remove someone that has failed to maintain the standards imposed by statute.
Our county uses a "wheel" based system. The Judges have little to do with "selecting" attorneys. They are both appointed to the public defenders and private attorneys. On occasion there is a need to appoint someone where there is a conflict. I would make sure said appointments were fairly administered so that a select few were not getting all of these types of cases. This was a common practice around 25 years ago when the Judges held the power to select anyone at their discretion. I would make sure that there was a fair dispersion of cases to all qualified attorneys.

As an attorney I have handled more than 2,200 civil and criminal cases. Having been a solo practitioner for more than 12 years and a Jail Magistrate Judge for more than five years, it is my knowledge and understanding of the law that qualifies me for this position. And I love for the rule of law.
I am running to be the next Judge for County Court at Law Number Four because one’s experience, integrity, and fairness matters. To be a good judge one must not only know the law but one must also understand the process and the people that are essential to the rule of law.
A common procedural failure that undermines justice in a criminal misdemeanor court is that there is at times inadequate communication between the court, attorneys, and parties, which can result in missed hearings, incomplete filings, or confusion regarding legal obligations. These lapses may inadvertently impede due process, delay justice, or undermine trust in the legal system. Addressing this issue is essential to ensure that both victims’ safety and the rights of the accused are protected.
The best method to select judges that will ensure an independent judiciary is to inform and remind the public and voters that no candidate seeking a judicial should have a complete allegiance to any party or belief-- except to upholding the rule of law.
I will follow the Council of Judges administrative proceeds for appointing court appointed counsel. Attorneys that are selected to represent indigent defendants should be both from the Public Defender's Office and the private attorney bar.
