Background: What would you like people to know about you?
Qualifications: What training, experience and characteristics qualify you for this position?
Responsibilities: How would you ensure that all individuals appearing before you, especially self-represented individuals, are treated fairly and with respect, and what steps would you take to ensure they understand the process?
Improvements: What changes, if any, are needed in court processes and procedures in your precinct to make the court more efficient and effective in fulfilling its duties?
I am a workhorse, not a show horse. I show up, do the job, and let the results speak for themselves. Running for office requires more visibility, which doesn’t come naturally to me, but I accept the responsibility. I love the Lord, am devoted to my wife and children, and committed to serving my community.
I currently serve as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3. In the past year, my court disposed of over 24,000 cases. I have presided over 2,000+ civil bench trials (Landlord/Tenant, Small Claims up to $20,000) and conducted both civil and criminal jury trials. I am a 20-year Small Business Owner, 3rd Generation Real Estate Broker, and Residential/Commercial Property Manager.
I work to ensure everyone appearing in my courtroom is treated with patience, fairness, and respect. I allow all parties to be heard and address disrespectful behavior when necessary. While I can provide legal information, not legal advice, I clearly explain the process and direct self-represented litigants to appropriate resources.
I will continue applying small-business efficiency to court operations by reducing unnecessary steps without sacrificing fairness. Ongoing training for myself and my clerks remains a priority. I am proud of my court staff and will continue working closely with the Constable’s Office to ensure civil process is handled thoroughly and efficiently.
