What training, experience and background make you the best qualified candidate to be your party’s nominee for this office?
What are the two (2) most pressing issues that you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your specific plans/ideas for addressing these issues.
A proud Texan for 42 years and Ft. Bend resident for 27. My husband and I love this community and want what is best for it—safe neighborhoods, strong families and courts that uphold the rule of law.
I earned my J.D. from STCL in 1989, graduating top 1/3rd of my class, with 2 kids and 0 debt! I bring 34 years of trial experience and 8 years on the Municipal bench. I believe in judicial restraint, constitutional principles, and applying the law as written. Faith and Discipline are my cornerstones.
1. Ft Bend County has experienced rapid population growth, which has strained the court system. Delays hurt victims, defendants and taxpayers and undermine confidence in the justice system.
2. Ft Bend County residents are concerned about repeat offenders, bond decisions, and whether courts consistently prioritize community safety while protecting constitutional rights.
My plan is aggressive but fair case management to move cases promptly & Early hearings to identify issues & careful, individualized bond decisions based on law and public safety.
Additionally, holding offenders accountable while ensuring due process. Clear consequences for violations of court orders and probation terms.
I am seeking a return to office as the Presiding Judge of the 240th District Court. I previously served as the Presiding Judge from 2019-2023. I am a member of the State Bar of Texas and have practiced Civil and Criminal Law in Texas for over 35 years. Member of the Fort Bend County Bar, Board member for Fort Bend County Meals on Wheels. Secretary for the Sugar Land Rotary Club. Executive Member for NAACP. Juvenile Mentor. Member River Pointe Church media ministry. 38 yr Fort Bend Resident.
1. Case backlog due to our growing county. Our court is a court of general jurisdiction with Civil and Criminal matters. I will assign all cases a docket control order with a jury trial date to work towards. This was previously done by me in my first term to address the backlog brought on by the Covid 19 shutdown. The Supreme Court of Texas shut the courts down for about a year as a safety measure.
2. Bail Bonds are an important issue. A bail bond is one way that a person can have a defendant released that is waiting for a trial date that is facing criminal charges from law enforcement. I will set bond amounts based on the facts, criminal history and the safety of Fort Bend Co residents .
