What training, experience and background make you the best qualified candidate to be your party’s nominee for this office?

What are the two (2) most pressing issues that you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your specific plans/ideas for addressing these issues.

I have dedicated my 20+ year legal career to public service. I spent over a decade keeping our community safe as an Assistant District Attorney, handling felony cases & serving as Chief of the Mental Health Division and Division Chief in the Felony Trial Bureau. I also previously served as the presiding Judge of the 400th District Court and Local Administrative District Judge. I reduced case backlogs by running efficient dockets and presiding over numerous criminal and civil hearings & trials.
Two pressing issues facing judges are heavy caseloads and court backlogs, and public perception and misinformation about the role of judges and public safety. I will address case backlogs by running efficient, well managed dockets while ensuring every case receives full and careful consideration. I will base all decisions on the law and facts of each case, balancing the rights of the parties with the safety and well-being of our community. As a mom and longtime member of this community, this remains a top priority for me. - Our courtrooms are open to the public. I will always welcome courtroom observers to view our proceedings and gain insight into how our judicial system functions.
My background as a criminal defense attorney, and a general practice civil attorney (2000-2016) prepared me for the success.

I come to you with the following experience: 2022-2024- Associate Judge, 240th Dist. Court 2020-2022- Served as Local Administrative District Judge *Guided all Dist. Courts through Covid-19 Crisis. 2019-2022- Presiding Judge 268th Dist Court 2016-2018- Assistant Public Defender 1984-1994- Civilian Law Enforcement Inv. 1982-1986- USAF Law Enforcement Supervisor
Fort Bend County is facing rapid growth. I will call for sustained growth in the Fort Bend Judiciary. During my tenure as 268th District Court Judge, i led the effort to expand the number of courts. 1. When first elected to the 268th District Court, we found defendant's waited for their day in court for as long as 2 1/2 years. Working with Fort Bend County's Commissioners, we added three new Associate District Courts , with Judges and staff. Even with the new courts, delivery of court services is outpaced by our growth.

2. The need for mental health services continues to grow. Fort Bend must develop local mental health facilities. Fort Bend mentally ill currently warehouse at our jai.
