I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2021. I was elected to the Grand Prairie City Council in June 2021 and have served as the Mayor Pro Tem for the city of Grand Prairie since June 2025. I also serve as the Chairman of the Finance and Government committee for the city. On the national level I serve on the National League of Cities Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Federal Advocacy Committee.
We must expand voter registration opportunities by allowing Texans to register online and also allow for same day registration. We must also expand days and hours for early voting to ensure that all Texans have an opportunity to vote with less barriers. We also have to provide oversight on all counties to ensure that they provide an adequate amount of early voting and election day polling locations for all Texans.
To ensure that healthcare is affordable and accessible for all Texans we must expand medicaid to receive the billions of dollars available from the federal government as well as be able to cover an additional million Texans that would qualify if the program was expanded. I would also advocate for more funding for local county clinics and health departments that provide essential healthcare for uninsured or underinsured Texans.
I would push for legislation that invests into the clean energy economy that would bring thousands of high paying jobs while tapping into an emerging industry. Production of solar panels and other green infrastructure in Texas could be a major market if we provide incentives and support to businesses that would like to come and invest in Texas.
Investment into emerging clean energy such as solar, wind and nuclear. While weatherizing all of our current energy systems and making sure that they are ready for all extreme weather events. Expand transmission lines and invest in battery storage so we are prepared for peak demand. To protect the environment we must update emissions standards for power plants and industrial facilities.
We must repeal the private school vouchers bill that siphons away public tax dollars for public schools. We must also increase funding for economically disadvantaged school districts so that they don't get penalized for having a smaller property tax base. Increase pay for teachers and paraprofessionals and increase funding for afterschool care programs to allow working parents to have safe spaces for their kids to learn and play while they are at work.

I have served Tarrant County in the Legislature for eight terms, representing Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Mansfield. I currently serve on the Committees on State Affairs, Ways and Means, and Congressional Redistricting, and as Chair of the Subcommittee on Property Tax Appraisals. Previously, I chaired Committees on Higher Education and Business and Industry and the House Democratic Caucus. I’ve lived in Tarrant County for over 25 years and I have lived in HD 101 since it was created in 2011.
We must protect our democracy by ensuring that every eligible voter has the ability to vote. This includes fighting back against the Republican Party’s constant attempts to suppress voters. In the Legislature I broke quorum twice to fight against the passage of an extreme anti-voter bill and Trump’s racist redistricting. I also support legislation to implement online voter registration, expand vote-by-mail, expand early voting access, and restore the full protections of the Voting Rights Act.
The most important thing we can do is expand Medicaid. Texas perennially has the highest uninsured rate for adults and children, which is unacceptable. Expanding Medicaid would immediately provide over 1 million Texans health insurance and infuse billions of dollars into our economy. It would prevent the closure of rural hospitals, reduce local government pressure on property taxes, and create jobs. Our state cannot afford Republican legislators forgoing these benefits to make a partisan point.
We must pass pro-worker legislation to ensure that all workers receive fair wages and benefits. I’ve filed legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15, ensure workers receive unemployment benefits and to hold employers accountable for misclassifying workers to deny them benefits. Further, the Comptroller’s recent removal of minority and women-owned businesses from the Historically Underutilized Business program is devastating for these communities. I support legislation revoking this change.
On the State Affairs committee I have been deeply engaged in ensuring our electric grid keeps up with demand and Texans do not experience another power grid failure. We have made progress, including weatherization requirements and expanding transmission. However, most people are too focused on dispatchable energy, to the detriment of other solutions. To protect the environment and ensure our energy goals are feasible, we must focus on energy conservation and the protection of renewable energy.
We must repeal private school vouchers, which will siphon billions from our public schools to private schools that do not adhere to state regulations or serve all students. We must fully fund public schools by raising the basic allotment. HB 2 increased funding, but schools remain underfunded. We must protect local schools from losing funding due to our Appraisal District. I passed SB 973 to require annual reappraisals, ensuring local schools do not lose funding due to the Property Value Study.
