I bring a combination of judicial experience, public-service leadership, and teaching experience to this office. I have served as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 for eight years, during which I have presided over civil, criminal, and administrative matters and worked to ensure that cases are handled fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with the law.
Before taking the bench, I worked in public service and law enforcement, and later as an instructor and educator. That background helps me communicate clearly with litigants—many of whom are self-represented—and to manage a courtroom that is respectful, orderly, and accessible to the public.
The most important priority of the Justice of the Peace office is to ensure fair, accessible, and timely justice for everyone who comes before the court. Many litigants are self-represented, so it is essential that court procedures are clear, respectful, and applied consistently.
The office must also manage cases efficiently while protecting due process, maintaining public trust, and treating all parties impartially. By running an organized and professional court, the Justice of the Peace helps ensure that legal disputes are resolved in accordance with the law and that the community has confidence in the judicial system.
Effective docket management requires balancing efficiency with careful attention to each case. I focus on clear scheduling, early identification of procedural issues, and consistent application of court rules so cases move forward without unnecessary delay.
I also emphasize clear communication with litigants—many of whom are self-represented—so they understand deadlines, expectations, and available options. This reduces continuances and prevents avoidable errors.
By preparing thoroughly, encouraging timely resolution where appropriate, and ensuring that all parties receive due process, the court can operate efficiently while still handling each case carefully and in full compliance with the law.
