Qualifications and Experience 3 terms in the legislature. Currently, I hold the seat as appropriations chair in the House
I ran for office to do the work of the people and flip the State House. In the time I have been there I have had the opportunity to increase funding to education, protect healthcare, produce thousands of jobs and a balanced budget.
We must allocate resources based on student needs and ensure that all schools receive adequate financial support. This includes increasing funding for schools in low-income communities, providing more resources for special education, and investing in early childhood education programs. Equitable funding will help level the playing field and ensure that all students have access to quality education, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Among other things, I have worked with the House of Representatives to provide a $280 million increase in per-pupil funding in last years budget.
Michigan has the honor of hosting 1/3 of the world's fresh water. The state must be vigilant in protecting the Great Lakes and the thousands of inland lakes and rivers. We can and have made policies that support and fund this.
Business relies on residents/workers. Workers demand a vibrant community and vibrant communities need business. This is a circle of support to keep residents. Our state should be supporting our businesses to increase job - which we have since I have been here. We also need to increase funding for vibrant community grants and look at other states who have run successful programs with populations.
