I grew up in Dallas and worked my way from Dallas public schools to the NFL, and dedicated my life to public service as a civil rights attorney and Member of Congress. In 2018, I defeated a 20-year Republican incumbent and served three terms in Congress, delivering results for Dallas families—including expanding healthcare access, protecting civil rights, and fighting for the issues that matter most to our community. I have secured more than $135 million in federal investments for communities now within TX-33, including healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure.
Our founders created checks and balances to ensure that no one person has too much power. They saw this coming. Now we need leaders who will actually use those tools. I will be a strong voice in Congress holding the Trump administration accountable every time they overstep. That means protecting our institutions and standing up for Texans when Washington crosses the line. We don’t need more talk. We need representatives who will fight to preserve our democratic systems. That’s exactly what I'll do.
Trump’s tariffs are crushing small businesses while large corporations simply pass the costs of these tariffs onto consumers. Right here in Dallas and across the country, small businesses are struggling to cope with this failed policy. In Congress, I will fight to pass the Small Business Liberation Act, to immediately exempt 34 million small businesses from these tariffs, allowing them to thrive and grow.
We must work towards building a system where every Texan can see a doctor without facing bankruptcy. In Congress, I’ve fought to restore and protect the ACA tax credits that thousands of TX-33 constituents depend on for affordable coverage, and I will continue this fight.

I’ll keep pushing to require Medicare and Medicaid to negotiate prices on all prescription drugs. Taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize Big Pharma’s profits while seniors ration medications. I’ll continue to support empowering Medicare to negotiate drug prices, ensuring coverage for preventative care and lifesaving treatments.
The most pressing issue is our affordability and corruption crisis. Working families play by the rules but can’t get ahead, while they watch politicians trade stocks and take corporate PAC money without any consequences at their expense.

Grocery prices are rising faster than overall inflation as big chains exploit market conditions for excessive profits. I’ll fight for the Price Gouging Prevention Act to ban price gouging on groceries and consumer goods and support ending “surveillance pricing” to empower the FTC to hold big corporations accountable when they exploit working families.

Note: I am the current Congresswoman for CD32 which was gerrymandered into CD33.
What sets me apart in this race is a proven record of governing, delivering results, and showing up when it matters most.

I bring nearly two decades of experience in Democratic politics and public service, with successful tenures in both the Texas House and the U.S. Congress. In the Texas House, I passed meaningful legislation and built durable coalitions. In Congress, I have continued that work by authoring and advancing legislation, exercising real oversight, and delivering for North Texas in a high-stakes federal environment.

I am the only person in this race who showed up for the national redistricting fight, standing on the front lines to defend fair representation and democratic institutions. That experience, combined with governing at both the state and federal levels, gives me a clear understanding of the political and legal dynamics our country faces today.

I know how to govern, not just campaign. That record is why I have earned the broadest support in this race, with endorsements from more local, state, and national leaders than any other candidate.
Preserving the Constitution’s checks and balances is urgent because unchecked executive power is already causing real harm—through human rights violations, immigration abuses, and economic policies that raise costs for families.

Congress must aggressively exercise its Article I authority. That starts with real, public oversight: hearings, subpoenas, and enforcement when the administration breaks the law. I have already done this work, using my role on the Homeland Security Committee to demand accountability from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to directly question Secretary Kristi Noem when the department has violated due process and exceeded its authority. When people’s rights are being abused, oversight is not optional.

Congress must also reclaim its power of the purse. Harmful tariffs imposed without proper authorization function as a hidden tax on working families and small businesses.
I believe Congress must reassert its constitutional authority over tariffs because unchecked tariff policy functions as a tax on working families and small businesses, with especially serious consequences for North Texas.

I strongly oppose broad, poorly targeted tariffs like those imposed under Trump. In North Texas, those tariffs raised the cost of everyday goods, increased prices for construction materials and appliances, and squeezed small businesses that rely on global supply chains. They also triggered retaliatory tariffs that hurt Texas farmers, manufacturers, and exporters, weakening our regional economy. Independent analyses showed clearly that American consumers—not foreign governments—paid the price.

In Congress, I opposed Trump-era tariff policies because of their inflationary impact on North Texas families and their harm to local businesses, and I supported oversight and legislative efforts to limit unilateral tariff authority.

Trade policy should be strategic, transparent, and accountable to Congress.
The federal government has a responsibility to treat health care as a right, not a privilege, and to make sure families can afford and access the care they need without political interference.

In Congress, I focus on lowering costs, expanding access, and protecting science-based care. I have introduced the Patient Access to Autoimmune Treatments (PAAT) Act to stop abusive prior authorization practices that delay or deny lifesaving medications, and I support reforms like the Denials Don’t Pay Act and the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act to protect Medicare patients. I also support expanding prescription drug price negotiations, capping insulin costs for children, and strengthening Medicare to cover dental, vision, hearing, and other essential services.

I have consistently voted to protect and expand the ACA, make enhanced premium tax credits permanent, fund Navigators, and close the Medicaid coverage gap through the COVER Now Act. I have fought efforts to undermine Medicaid through backdoor cuts, data-sharing with immigration authorities, and restrictions on patient choice. I am a strong defender of reproductive freedom and part of the Black Maternal Health Caucus.
The next session of Congress must confront urgent challenges the health of our democracy.

Defending democracy and ending corruption are foundational. I support banning stock trading by members of Congress, strengthening ethics enforcement, and protecting election systems from interference. In a fast-growing region like Dallas–Fort Worth, people need confidence that government decisions are made in the public interest, not for personal gain. Affordability—especially housing—is one of the biggest pressures facing North Texas families. Rapid growth has driven up rents and home prices while shrinking supply. I support expanding housing, lowering construction costs, and investing in affordable and workforce housing so families are not priced out of their communities. AI reform and data center growth are also critical. Congress must set clear rules to protect local water and energy resources, require transparency, and prevent harm to nearby communities, while putting strong guardrails on AI to stop discrimination, data misuse, and political manipulation.

My focus is clear: defend democracy, lower costs, and ensure North Texas grows in a way that works for the people who live here.

I am a Georgetown-trained attorney with experience at the Harrison Institute of Public Policy, where I worked on labor rights and policymaking. I have an MBA and have led teams at Microsoft, Google, and in the startup space, giving me deep expertise in AI, data privacy, and economic innovation. As Community Outreach Director at DFW Refugee Outreach Services, I work directly with immigrant and refugee families. I have also built community organizations, coached youth, and advocated for working people my entire career.
I will preserve checks and balances by restoring strong Congressional oversight, repealing the PATRIOT Act, ending warrantless surveillance, and replacing the 2001 AUMF so presidents cannot wage war without approval. I will investigate and hold ICE, police, DHS, DOJ, and intelligence agencies accountable for civil rights violations, repeal qualified immunity, and defend an independent civil service from political interference. I also support impeaching President Trump for repeated constitutional abuses. My goal is to answers to the people, not unchecked executive power and corporations.
Congress must play an active role in trade and tariff policy to protect American workers, not just multinational corporations. I support targeted, strategic tariffs when they are used to stop offshoring, defend American manufacturing, and level the playing field against countries that exploit workers or pollute without consequence. But tariffs should never be used as a political weapon that raises prices on working families. Congress must ensure that any tariff policy includes worker protections, prevents corporate price gouging, and strengthens domestic supply chains.
The federal government has a responsibility to ensure that every person in this country gets high-quality healthcare. I support Medicare for All because it is the most efficient and equitable way to guarantee universal coverage while lowering overall costs for families, businesses, and the healthcare system. No one should go bankrupt or delay care because of premiums, deductibles, or insurance denials. I will work to expand primary care access, strengthen community health centers, cap prescription drug prices, and invest in preventive care. I will fund reproductive care/Planned Parenthood.
I support a $20 living wage, raising Social Security benefits by at least $200 a month by lifting the payroll tax cap, expanding affordable housing, and investing in strong public education to ease the pressure on working families. I will push for a strong Digital Bill of Rights, strict limits on government and corporate surveillance, and protections to ensure AI does not replace workers or violate civil rights. We must also take on climate change with a Green New Deal, fight for peace and justice abroad including ending the genocide in Palestine, and prosecute and abolish ICE.
