I have served the community of Pct.1 for over 28 years. I have worked my way through the ranks after being hired on at Pct. 1 as the Sgrt. in the warrant department, soon promoted to the Lieutenant, later promoted to the Chf. at Pct. 1 to run the day to day operations. In 2017, I was elected as the Constable to serve at Pct.1. I have served this position for 2 consecutive terms with Loyalty, accountability, transparency, and dedication. Throughout my tenure at Pct.1, I have maintained this office which is the largest of all 5 Constables, to remain #1 in service to the community.
While holding this position at Pct.1, I have gained the trust and an amazing working relationship with every Police agency in this Pct. I'm not your Constable who is behind the desk, I'm in the community speaking to the students about safety, education and the importance of voting. I also reach out to our senior citizens on a weekly visit to their centers regarding safety in their neighborhood as well with the HOA Meetings. I have also for the first time in history if the Dallas Constables, reached out to each of the other Precincts to finally work together to improve the safety of Dallas Co.
PCT.1 is the largest serving Constables office of the 5 in Dallas County. I have always stressed for my Deputies to treat the community with the utmost respect as if they were the one behind the door that we are serving. We are ranked number one, not because of our number but because of the quality if work that I demand at Pct.1 However, there is always room for more officers as I have stressed to the Commissioner Court and we will be staffing more soon.
Other issues that we are dealing with now are the increase in filing fees. However, we have joined together to revisit with the Commissioner Court to reduce them. My belief is to help the community as much as we can while so many are dealing with the economy now and really can afford the higher fees.

I have been a deputy in Dallas County for over nine years. During this time, I earned my Master Peace Officer license and became a certified mental health officer as well as a TCOLE Field Training Officer. I strongly believe that years of service do not equate to experience; rather, training and education are what make an officer more effective. Additionally, I served as the president of the Deputy Reserve Constable Association before resigning to run for office. I earned my bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of North Texas at Dallas, graduating magna cum laude.
The first change that is needed in Dallas County low office morale due to a lack of representation with county commissioners. Dallas County Constable deputies are the only law enforcement officers who do not have civil service protection. I will collaborate with other constables to advocate for civil service protection for all deputies, as no one should have to worry about putting food on their families' tables.
The Dallas County Constable Precinct 1 is facing a high turnover rate, attributed to a hostile work environment. I believe that deputies are overworked and may feel unappreciated. This is a significant concern, not only for officer safety but also, and importantly, for community safety. I am committed to creating a family-oriented workplace with an open-door policy for all employees. When staff members feel valued and respected, they are more motivated to deliver better service to our community.
One challenge confronting the constable's office is the underrepresentation of the community we serve. To address this, I will advocate for bilingual pay, which will help us recruit more bilingual deputies and staff. Additionally, I will support a deputy transfer program, as I believe it is unfair to terminate employees solely due to a lack of bilingual skills. This transfer program will include relocation incentives to foster a more balanced constable's office throughout Dallas County that accurately reflects our communities we serve.
