I bring a combination of education expertise, real world leadership, and lived experience that directly reflects the people of House District 87. I am a public educator with 20 years of experience in Texas schools. I began my career in a bilingual classroom and have steadily taken on leadership roles, working with teachers, campuses and leadership. I hold a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, which equipped me to understand not only teaching, but budgeting, policy implementation, accountability systems, and organizational leadership. As the spouse of a combat veteran, I also understand the challenges military families face. Finally, I have spent my life living and working in the Texas Panhandle.
The goal of a Texas State Representative is to be a strong voice for their district in Austin, listening to constituents, writing and voting on laws, and ensuring state resources are distributed fairly. A representative also works to bring attention to local priorities like public education, health care access, infrastructure, agriculture, and veterans’ services. The role has clear limitations. A state representative is one of 150 members and cannot act alone.
1. Strengthening Public Education in our rural areas I would fight for increased per-student funding, meaningful teacher pay raises, and oppose voucher schemes that further set our rural schools behind. I would also advocate for incentives to recruit and retain teachers in rural areas. 2. Access to Rural Health Care I would support funding to stabilize our rural hospitals, expand access to telehealth, and protect Medicaid and CHIP. 3. Lowering Property Taxes Without Hurting Communities I would push for state level solutions. We need to be using surplus funds responsibly as to reduce reliance on property taxes to fully fund schools, infrastructure, and emergency services.
My vision for economic development is a Texas Panhandle where families can build stable lives, businesses can grow locally, and prosperity does not come at the expense of our schools, health care, land, or water. I would invest in people by fully funding public education, workforce training, and career pathways tied to local industries such as agriculture, energy, health care, and skilled trades. I would prioritize transparency, local input, and fiscal responsibility. That means listening to constituents, working across party lines, using data to guide decisions, and ensuring state funds are spent efficiently and equitably
