Before taking office as Potter County Clerk in 2007, I gained valuable experience in the Clerk’s Office, a private law office, and the County Judge’s Office. I'm currently in my 18th year of being County Clerk and the best training is sitting in the hot seal each day and learning. Attending CE training and collaborating with other Clerks across the State of Texas is the best training out there for someone in my position.
The County Clerk holds a vital role in county government. In addition to serving the public through services such as marriage licenses, property records, court records, and marks and brands, we are also responsible for supporting the courts. As the Clerk of the Court, our office ensures that all rules, statutes, and procedures are followed so that we can effectively serve the County Court and the two County Courts at Law. Our work requires accuracy, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the judicial process. As custodian of records, our office is actively working to bring the historical documents into the electronic age, making them more accessible to the public as well as to our staff. This initiative will preserve valuable county history while improving efficiency and ensuring easier access for everyone who relies on these records.
