As Vice Chair of the Planning Commission, I regularly meet with community leaders and neighborhood groups to hear concerns and ideas about urban planning, growth management, and housing affordability, and co responder services for the homeless. I attend the weekly farmers market in downtown Burien, and my wife and I volunteer at community events for Discover Burien and Burien Pride. I have also been door belling across my community to reach 8,000 households, and will work t.
As a neighbor of SEATAC airport, it's essential to public health that we actively fight to preserve our greenspace and tree canopy to mitigate impacts of air and sound pollution. In addition, we need more regional seats at the table to address traffic congestion along 509 and protecting our shoreline and water quality for sensitive wildlife habitats.
I currently serve as Vice Chair of the Burien Planning Commission, and was on the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, and participated in Design Review for the Seattle School District.
Co-responder models have been increasingly effective in our community to provide wrap around services to meet our homeless population where they are, and get them the resources that they need. We need more access to mental health and social services as well as rapid housing programs and transitional housing for domestic violence survivors, veterans, and seniors.
I have a vision for a thriving Burien: A Burien designed to serve everyone who lives, works, and plays here. I am honored to serve on the Burien Planning Commission during one of the most forward leaning urban planning periods in Burien’s history, a plan that has broad support across our community. The new Comprehensive Plan responds to regional issues of housing affordability, creating more paths to ownership and more housing diversty. It is a thoughtful roadmap that improves park amenities, connects sidewalks, and drives economic development for all neighborhoods equitably and sustainably. I want to continue the work on council to solve tough problems and unite us on policy that propels our city forward.
