Personal Biography Angel is the Republican nominee for the 67th House District. She is a common-sense leader who focuses on listening to the people she represents, building community relationships and supporting policy that will build a stronger Manhattan.

Manhattan is a unique community and we need leadership that will bridge political differences and work across the aisle to get things done. I am committed to listening to voters, learning their priorities, and earning their vote. As someone who grew up in foster care, I know that the government needs to be accountable and you can count on me to do that. I also know that education played an instrumental role in changing the trajectory of my life and we must invest in our schools, our community is counting on it! And right now, tax payers are facing too high of a tax burden compounded by high inflation. I am on a mission to bridge the gap between citizens and those they elect by being accessible and an accurate reflection of being a Kansan.
The greatest challenge Kansas is presently facing is the ability to attract and retain the next generation of Kansans. This issue is of priority because it is the foundation for our communities to be able to thrive. We need to be a place that industry leaders want to come to hire our talent. Currently, the biggest priority in Kansas K-12 education is completing the task of funding Special Education. Additionally, we must continue to work at the task of training teachers in understanding the science of reading. Finally, we must fight inflation and reduce costs for families and seniors by properly funding the necessary services for efficiency and have a rainy-day fund. Then tax dollars need to come back to the pockets of Kansans.
I applaud the Legislature for their recent efforts to live stream committee hearings and floor debate. However, that isn't enough. Most Kansans can't spend all day watching YouTube to see if something pops up on a particular issue. I would like to see the Legislature's website be more transparent about who introduces legislation, if it is moved into a different bill, etc. In a perfect world, the Legislature would not utilize the "Gut and Go" process. However, absent elimination I will be a leader that effectively communicates what is happening to the bills important to our community and the people who live here.
Our election laws should ensure the security of our elections but not make it harder for Kansans to participate in elections. I would not support changes that reduce access and participation in Kansas elections.

Personal Biography I was born in Seoul, S. Korea and adopted when I was 3 1/2 months old. I’m a first generation college grad. My dad’s family’s lineage was based in the economy of Cleveland: steel. And my mom was raised in a family who believed girls don’t need college. I met my husband in London, and got married at age 37. I became Charlie's mom at nearly 42. I'm truly blessed.
Education BA, New York University; MA, City University of London
Community/Public Service Common Table, Board Member; Volunteer book sorter at Manhattan Public Library; I do what I can at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School
I truly care about Manhattan, Kansas, and our collective future. I've been knocking on doors every election since 2020, and I know this community. We value education and books. We value and trust women. We believe in equality and social justice. We care for our neighbors and fill the needs of the marginalized.

I am the only candidate in this race who exemplifies these values. And I am the only candidate who will fight to protect them.

I was a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, CNBC Europe, and Tampa's NPR station, WUSF. I'm skilled at asking the right questions to get to the bottom of issues, to understand all sides. My superpower is taking complex concepts and making them easy for others to understand.
Reproductive Rights, Public Education, The Economy.

We must continue to grow our economy, and that includes attracting businesses to our state. When the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce traveled to Plum Island, NY to woo the scientists and staff of NBAF to relocate to our community (just because the facility was moving here doesn't mean the people would automatically follow), the top two questions they encountered were: 1)How are the schools? and 2) Is abortion legal?

These highly educated professionals wanted to make sure their children were going to get a quality education. And they wanted to make sure they had access to maternal healthcare.

And this is why we must protect reproductive rights and why we must FULLY fund public schools.
As a regular Kansan not yet in the legislature, I would love to know how to make it easier to follow a bill.

And I would work hard to eliminate "Gut and Go." It's not fair to Kansans. And legislators are there to solve problems, not gut and go.
Kansas has fair and secure elections. Bills that seek to restrict voter access or restrict votes are simply disenfranchisement.

I would support a change to mail ballots so voters didn't have to request them for each election (primary and general) and for each year. I would also support ballot drop boxes to the northern parts of Riley County.
