I come from humble roots and I know what it is like to do without, to stretch every dollar and to struggle without a safety net to fall back on. With the rising cost of inflation, housing, childcare, healthcare... I get it. I am more reflective of the district we represent - A part of a middle class family, doing my best to help my kids have a bright future with opportunities like the ones my husband and I had growing up... I’m a mother, a wife, an educator, a small business owner, a legislator and a Kansan by choice, not by birth. But most importantly, I’m skilled in listening and I am an independent thinker. I’m a pragmatic problem solver who prioritizes building relationships based on trust, both in Topeka and here at home.
Full funding public schools including special education. 1. Reducing the tax burden on those most in need, including seniors on fixed incomes and young families: I voted to pass a massive tax cut bill benefiting seniors and working-class Kansans in late June, which included ending state Social Security Taxes and more. I hope to do more to lower property taxes even more next session. 2. Fully funding public schools including special education- It should not take a lawsuit to get our schools funded. I'm committed to advocating for our students and teachers. 3. Protecting reproductive rights- Politicians have no business interfering with private medical decisions made between patients and their medical providers. Hard stop.

Through our work on the Legislative Modernization Committee, a new bill tracking system will be in place for next session that will simplify and streamline the process of following bills for both legislators, as well as the public.

Ideally, the practice of “Gut and Go” would not be allowed within House and Senate Rules. Those are changed with each session. Unfortunately, the GOP is in firm control of both chambers and there has been no interest in eliminating the practice. Gut and Go allows the language of bills that may or may not have been heard in committee to be substituted into another bill that acts as a shell to forward the new proposed law or regulations. The public sees this as a sneaky tactic and it harms trust and transparency.
Our local county election officials and the Secretary of State continue to audit election results, certify equipment, and monitor the registration practices and voter rolls. There is agreement across those offices that our elections are safe and secure. Public officials need to have the courage to push back against groups that push baseless claims and conspiracies that sow doubt about our election personnel, equipment and results.

I would support changes that make it easier to apply for permanent advance ballot status. More effort needs to be made in communicating how to update voter registration when moving.

I oppose bills that lessen the ability for registered voters to have access to voting. We should make voting easier, not harder.
