Traffic control: Review and adjust traffic patterns and speed limits.

Walkable and bikeable community: Create new ways for our community to travel safely between key points. Our children need these spaces to get out of the house and feel safe.

Reimagine our parks: More trees and updated amenities, section off space for a dog park in multiple parks, Black Horse, and JFK, particularly.

We will review the current operating budget to find funds that can be reallocated to support these goals.
I have run a successful nonprofit and been on my local school board for the last 4 years, where we have had to make tough decisions as it relates to the budget. With all of that, we were still able to build a new middle school, expand the 4-5 school, upgrade the high school softball field, support the arts, and add new academic programs for our student body. We were able to accomplish this while keeping our taxes in the 5 lowest districts in our surrounding area.
If I had a magic wand, I would help the people in my ward be seen. I have two communities that are dealing with unique issues. Mogeetown has environmental concerns of air pollution from local businesses and the local wastewater treatment facility. Connaughtown has reported traffic issues with speeding and reckless driving. These communities have good people raising their families and need help. We should do all that we can to help our citizens. If I had a magic wand, I would help them both.
I would engage with the community and implore them to come to our meetings in person, watch our official YouTube, Facebook, and other outlets. If they can’t make it, I think that is essential to deliver the information in person whenever this is possible. The age of disinformation was aided by a distrust in our media outlets and strengthened by individuals looking to social media and niche outlets for answers. We have to be more transparent to earn the public trust.
