Blue Hill Referendum Question 2
Shall the Town authorize 100% of the $100,000 appropriated by voters in 2017 from Undesignated Funds for “matching funds” for sidewalk expansion applications to be used to match a $400,000 grant from the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the SouthStreet sidewalk project? Explanation from the Town of Blue Hill: The 2017 warrant article that was approved by voters, and appropriated $100,000, included this restriction: “This match will never exceed more than 20% of the amount of a grant request”. For the MDOT grant to be secured and for the project to proceed, 25% is required, which amounts to $100,000. No other grant applications for sidewalk projects that require matches are presently pending.
