During this incredibly challenging time, my current top priority is ensuring RSU#14 has a strong infrastructure to support this new hybrid/virtual educational model of education in as safe and robust manner as possible. I think it will be important to scrutinize student achievement and review our delivery model to optimize student success. Timely communication with staff, parents and students is essential in this ever changing environment. Crafting a budget for the 2021-2022 school year, with what likely will be substantially reduced financial support from the state, will require intense scrutiny of current programs and services, keeping in mind that we are a labor intense operation. Over 75% of the budget for RSU#14 is comprised of negotiated salaries and benefits. As a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for the district, I am interested in helping craft the next 5 years goals and plans moving forward. This is important educational work and I hope to continue my involvement.
With 18 years of experience, I think I bring historical knowledge to the work of the RSU#14 Board. I have been on the following committees that have given me a broad view of the issues important to providing a quality education to the students of the District: Superintendent Search Committee, Strategic Plan Committee, Policy Committee, Facilities Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Negotiations Committee (3 contracts). I am a strong advocate for the education of our children, my own 3 children have attended and graduated from our schools, and believe my ability to see both sides of an issue is a strength. I embrace parent and student voice, am extremely supportive of staff and hope to continue my contribution to a District that I find to be totally committed to success for all. It would be my continued honor and privilege to serve the RSU#14 educational community.

Covid-19 has obviously created significant challenges for schools. My main goal for 2021 is to ensure that we are still delivering quality educational opportunities to our students during this pandemic whether that be in a distance, hybrid or in-person setting. Second, our students’ lives were upended in the spring just like the rest of ours and it makes continuing the work of Social Emotional Learning even more critical. I will work with the district in support of these efforts.
Civic engagement is very important to me which is part of why I joined the school board back in January. I take the responsibility of this role very seriously and keep myself informed of issues and stay open minded to opposing points of view. I look forward to serving our community in the coming year and doing my part to deliver the high value education Windham has come to expect. Thank you for your support.
