City of Craig City Atty Residency Requirement Ballot Question 2F

Shall the Home Rule of the City of Craig be amended concerning residency requirement (bolded below) for the city attorney to read in its entirety as follows: Article V, Section 2 City Attorney QualificationsThe City Attorney shall be selected on the basis of legal qualifications and experience and must be a licensed attorney in the State of Colorado for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years. The City Attorney shall be a resident of the City of Craig or reside within Moffat County. The City Attorney shall meet this residency requirement within six (6) months of commencement of his or her employment. In the event there is not a qualified local candidate to fulfill the role of City Attorney, COuncil may election to utilize the service of an out of town attorney for a period of up to twelve (12) months under Article V, Section 3. The powers and duties of the City Attorney shall be prescribed by ordinance. The Council shall evaluate the City Attorney annually.
