VOTE411 Voter Guide

Keyport Borough Council {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

KEYPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL -- Full Term -- Vote for TwoKeyport is governed under the Borough form of New Jersey municipal government. The governing body is comprised of the Mayor and the Borough Council, with all positions elected at-large on a partisan basis as part of the November general election. A Mayor is elected directly by the voters to a four-year term of office. The Borough Council is comprised of six members elected to serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with two seats coming up for election each year in a three-year cycle. The Borough form of government used by Keyport is a "weak mayor / strong council" government in which council members act as the legislative body with the mayor presiding at meetings and voting only in the event of a tie. The mayor can veto ordinances subject to an override by a two-thirds majority vote of the council. The mayor makes committee and liaison assignments for council members, and most appointments are made by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council.

Safe streets for all ages and abilities, whether walking, biking or driving.

I have been an active participant and environmental stakeholder in the town’s “Complete Streets” efforts – an initiative to make the streets of Keyport safer and more efficient for pedestrians, bicyclists and all forms of motorized traffic. Want to continue conversations with the county to reduce the speed limit in Keyport to 25 mph.

Development

Find the balance that keeps Keyport affordable, encourages businesses to make Keyport home and retain our natural environment.
Personally, I have been a Keyport resident for 34 years, raised my children here and now have the next generation here. Our family, like so many Keyport families, has been involved in many local activities and efforts - it's what makes Keyport a community.

Professionally, 30+ years in the financial markets arena allowed me to develop skills in marketing, sales, and negotiating. This was followed by four years in the educational field teaching multiple life skills - with a focus on financial literacy at an alternative high school.
I am appreciative of the professionalism that exists within the Keyport Police Department. KPD has worked tirelessly for years to build strong relationships throughout our community. There are strong lines of communication and mutual respect between the Borough Council Members and the Keyport Police Department. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with the KPD to continue making Keyport a safer place.

Keyport continues to support education, as evidenced by the $16.7 million bond referendum that voters passed in 2018 for improvements at both KCS and KHS. I plan to discuss ideas with the community and school representatives so that we can continue to do what is best for our students.
