While I served in combat in Iraq, I was the senior aviation logistician. I administered the aviation readiness and logistics reporting for the 623 Army and Marine aircraft. I provided the three-star commander with a detailed daily picture of the tactical readiness of the 16 billion dollars’ worth of aircraft, support equipment and repair parts. Accountability for taxpayer dollars has always been a part of my creed.
