Internet & Energy Improvements: After this past summer's rainstorm, our need for basic public utilities, such as electric, TV, internet, and cable essential to everyday life needs improvement during emergencies. The problem is that these services are currently limited to the existing infrastructure. I feel these public utilities need to improve in operation and communication, especially during an emergency situation. As Councilwoman, I will ask to be a part of an Emergency Implementation Plan (EIP) addressing emergency repairs to the electrical grid systems critical to our community. I will ask for regulatory requirements to improve communications between the utility providers and customers so that clear, concise, and accurate information is provided to the residents when power outages occur. And I will support legislation and regulatory changes that will provide their customers a refund or credit for food and business losses after long delays in returning service to the customers.

The most important issue is to open Pompton Lakes government to other opinions, The Pompton Lakes Republican Club is currently working to elect their 3rd council member, Kent, by a council appointment and making her their candidate. Council Members Polidori and Venin were brought on to the council in the same way, appointed then run as the Republican Candidates. Pompton Lakes town government is a closed system, afraid to share any information or seek other opinions to address the environmental and development issues faced by the town. The first thing I would agitate for is the appointment of an environmental officer, which has not been replaced since the retirement of the last officer. Since I will be in the minority party, I will bring to the councils attention each case of an environmental issue I discover in consultation with my constituents. I would also fight to bring in competition for broadband and create commuter parking
I have extensive experience as a real estate lender evaluating tax abatements and reading environmental reports wehn making decisions to make a construction or commercial property loan I also evaluate the economics of commercial property and the skill of a developer in deciding whether the project will create value or be lost in foreclosure and bankruptcy. These skills in finance would be useful to evaluate development proposals and changes to land use and zoning. Additionally, I understand what attractd commercial development, reliable and fast broadband access and strong public transportation. I will use my knowledge to guide the town's efforts to increase commercial ratables and lower the tax burden on homeowners.

Many residents have expressed frustration with our current (lack of) options for TV and Internet. Optimum, formerly known as Cablevision and now known as Altice, is currently the main option for traditional "Cable" Television. Satellite services such as DirecTV and Dish network are other options. Internet service providers for our community are Optimum Online, Verizon DSL and Viasat/HughsNet satellite internet. Internet download speeds drop drastically for DSL and satellite; making Optimum the only viable option. There are emerging technologies that may offer our residents a viable choice for internet and thus streaming services. Maria and I will be watching closely so that when it comes to fruition, our residents will benefit.
