Gold Beach City Council Position 4

Four forms of city government determine the administrative role of any city council. Most Oregon cities with populations over 2,500 have the council/manager or council/administrator form, in which the council hires a chief executive officer to be responsible for the daily supervision of city affairs. Portland has a commission form of government, where the elected commissioners function collectively as the city council and serve as administrators of city departments. Smaller Oregon cities typically have the mayor/council form, in which the legislative and policy-making body is a popularly elected council. An elective city officer shall be a qualified elector under the state constitution and shall have resided in the city during the 12 months immediately before being elected or appointed to the office. In this subsection "city" means area inside the city limits at the time of the election or appointment. In addition, a councilor shall have resided in the ward the councilor represents during the 12 months immediately before being elected or appointed to the office. Please see City Charter.

County Curry
Well, my record really speaks for itself. I helped start the Urban Renewal project here in Gold Beach several years ago as a GB city councilman. I provided leadership as a manager for a multi-million project at The Springs at Deerhaven near Riley Creek school. It is the premier destination of its type on the South Coast.

I am fiscally conservative and work very hard to be fair and believe every viewpoint is important. My family homesteaded here in 1859 meaning I care about Gold Beach.
I believe we need to bring attractive and affordable work force housing to the area. I believe this is our number one need. I also want to see more of the fantastic Main Street project that has made such an incredible difference downtown.
Clearly, this is a very important question. First off, these needs are starting to be addressed right now, but we need more affordable quality housing. The homes will have to be under 1000 s.f. or we run the risk of prices rising to the unaffordable category for those small families just starting out. We need to continue build up the Curry Housing Task Force and I think put together a package that helps make our area more attractive for development including reducing/deferring SDCs.
