Citizens for Michele Jacobs
I graduated from the Elkhorn Area High School in 2002.
In 2018, I joined the Leadership Development Program through Gateway Technical College.
In August 2020, I graduated with Presidential Honors with an associate degree of applied science and a certificate in leadership essentials.
As a dedicated 15-year Walworth County employee, I understand the importance of customer service. Maintaining accurate and secure records has been the focus of my employment in both the Clerk of Court’s Office and with Corporation Counsel. I am comfortable navigating Wisconsin statutes, which govern the records maintained by the Register of Deeds. I have strong working relationships with personnel in other County departments.
These skills will carry over in my service as your Register of Deeds.
Vital records such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, as well as property deeds, are a few of the records maintained by the Register of Deed’s Office. I recognize the importance these records hold to the public and as Register of Deeds, I will ensure customers feel that their records are maintained with the care and respect they deserve.

As former Elkhorn City Clerk, I was keeper of City records, provided the public with access to records & was tasked with efficient operations of elections. I implemented digital storage of City records to protect them from destruction & to make them quicker to access for the public; I also implemented election electronic polling books to make elections safer & save the City money.
As Register of Deeds I will bring my experience to increase public access, protect records & save tax payer dollars.
I plan to research & implement technology to make it easier for the public to access records remotely, restructure the public access room to make it safer for searchers & provide information to the public to help them better understand the role of the Register of Deeds office in protecting & accessing their records. A program I am currently researching, Land Notification, will protect citizens, businesses & property from fraudulent recordings, an increasing problem across the United States.
