Jackson County Assessor
Qualifications: Candidate must be a US Citizen, a registered voter, a resident of the district for one year prior to election and age 18 or older. In addition, candidate must be a registered appraiser or appraiser trainee, must have two years accounting experience or two years employment in an appraiser’s office, and must be certified to be eligible by the OR Dept. of Revenue. ORS 204.016(4)Term: 4 years Salary: Varies by CountyIn Event of Vacancy: County governing body appoints qualified person to serve until successor is elected at next regular election.Duties: The Assessor is typically responsible for assessing all properties in each County. The Assessor’s office maintains records on property tax accounts, including maps and information on property locations, descriptions and ownership. The department may also manage special programs such as veterans' exemptions, senior deferrals, special assessments or enterprise zone exemptions.
