Greenwich Township is a rural community. People live here because of the Open Space and quality of life it offers. I have lived in Greenwich for close to 20 years and have made it my mission to protect our Open Space and quality of life. When I moved to Greenwich I got involved and joined a private preservation group. I then successfully advocated for and was able to get the Township to form a formal Open Space Committee and obtain an Open Space tax which our residents voted for. Since then I have been involved in hundreds of acres of Open Space being preserved in Greenwich. As the Town Committee liaison to the Open Space Committee I also spearheaded the creation of our beautiful Thomas Stewart Park. Greenwich also faces challenges with state mandated affordable housing. The goal is for Greenwich to stay in compliance to avoid "Builders Remedy" lawsuits while maintaining our rural character. Knowing the Township must comply the issue is how we comply. It is my position that when we are mandated to build affordable housing we disperse the units as much as possible. This helps the people living in the units to feel like they are more integrated into the community and it prevents any part of town becoming a "low rent" district. To this end I was integral in dispersing the current affordable housing obligation by finding another parcel of land that the Township was able to use to disperse the current required units. Protecting our Quality of Life is my goal.
I have served on the Greenwich Township Committee for 9 years at different times. I was Mayor in 2004 and currently serve as a Committeeman. My responsibilities over this tenure have included: 1)Making tough decisions on our budget to keep the Municipal portion of your taxes low. 2)Member of the Land Use Board and contributor to our Master Plan making sure our zoning reflects our Quality of Life goals. 3)Liaison and member of the Open Space Committee which continues to preserve our Open Space and provide our residents with beautiful recreation options. 4)Chairman of Community Day 5)Liaison to the Highlands Council

With all the above being said the most important experience I have is being a resident for 20 years who loves this Township and will do all he can to make sure it stays a beautiful place to live.
