Training and Experience
I began my career with the Lorain County Auditor's office 2/13/1984 in the Real Estate Department and acquired on the job experience. I was appointed in 2003, and later elected to serve as the Lorain County Recorder in 2004.
I would continue to work with the public, and land professionals to make access to real estate records as convenient as possible. I would continue to work towards making the records accessible online for the continuity of business.
The main duty of the recorder as it relates to county government is to stay apprised of the changes or additions to the
Ohio Revised Code.
Since I have been Recorder, a few examples of changes made are the redaction of Social Security Numbers, Margins/cross reference numbers on documents recorded, Notary Laws, Implementing Electronic Recording, Implementing The Veterans I D Card and The implementation of the Technology Fund. I am honored to be appointed and serve on the Legislative Committee, the International Association of Government Officials, and the Ohio Council of County Officials (OCCO).
I would like to bring a Property fraud alert system to the office. If i have fraud alerts on my checking account, I should also be able to have them on my real estate. I would strive to digitize records and make then available online as far back as we can go. Last but definitely not least, I would like to eliminate the current requirement for veterans to schedule an appointment to turn in their discharge papers and get their veteran ID cards. If I can walk in and get a car title the same day right across the hall, the Vets should be able to walk in to get their cards same day too.
The main duty for the County Recorder is to ensure that land records are processed accurately and timely. Keeping those records safe is also an important step in that process. the other duties include processing veteran discharge paperwork.
