Union County Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds is elected in partisan elections every 4 years. The office is the custodian of documents recorded from the beginning of the county to the present day. It records real estate documents, births and deaths. The office also issues marriage licenses, handles notary commissions, military discharge recordings, and provides certified birth and death certificates, and other documents.

Position/philosophy statement Custodian of records for the County of Union.
I have been in this role since 2004 and have brought the office from manually inputting information to streamlining with technology that not only was a cost savings to the office, but helped in the staffing stresses of the job. We are more efficient for users of the office that receive their documents back in a timely manner. We strive on customer service and do our best to serve the citizens of Union County. I have been in the real estate world for many years before becoming Register and understand the importance this office plays in the livelihood of our citizens.
Keeping up to date with indexing and recording documents that come in to our office. With being one of the fastest growing counties, the staff strives their best to provide good customer service, along with accurate record keeping. The society now is more geared to instant results, but there are reasons why it takes us some time to get items done, because we want it done correctly.
We are always looking at new technology to help staff and users as well. We constantly are being trained and updated regarding changes to laws. A new fraud alert tool has been introduced and it's free and we feel this is something the citizens would want and could benefit from, as this concept has spread across the country.
