I'm a lifelong Clay Countian and love this community. I have been proud to serve my fellow Northlanders in the Missouri House of Representatives these past four terms. I've taken on many of the challenges now facing our county - openness and transparency in government, finding smarter and more efficient ways to spend taxpayer dollars, and redirecting our priorities so that we're not focused on serving the connected few, but instead are serving the interests of everyday people and the community as a whole.

I believe in working hard and learning the issues using common sense and the best available facts. My experience dealing with challenging issues like balancing budgets, expanding health care, supporting workers, and opposing special interests have prepared me to take on the significant challenges that are facing Clay County government.
I think it’s extremely unwise to borrow tens of millions of dollars for unnecessary projects during a time of unprecedented economic challenge. Revenues to local governments are down, and balancing the budget will already be difficult enough. A public vote should be required before the county takes on significant debt.

I signed the audit petition and strongly believe an outside, neutral audit is critical for our county. It’s the best way to get factual information that can help guide us into the future. I trust Auditor Galloway’s team and oppose the lawsuits that have delayed this process at significant cost to all of us as taxpayers.

Funding going forward must focus on things that will improve the lives of everyday Clay Countians - Save and thriving neighborhoods, maintaining and modernizing our infrastructure, and vital social services for our most vulnerable citizens.
