Position/philosophy statement I believe that Education is a right for all students!
Reopening our school system coupled with budget restraints because of Covid 19. We do not know at this point where this pandemic is taking us as it continues to spread. In order for the school system to keep all stakeholders safe, the school system will need more employees to help with distancing and helping to keep everyone safe.
It is my intention to make sure that all stakeholders who are involved in educating our students are safe and healthy as the school system is reopened. However, as a former educator, I think that nine weeks should be the length of time offered for reopening the schools
No, I do not agree with the policy that Board of Education races are partisan because one should not base their willingness to serve on the school Board with being a member of a political party. In my opinion, it should not be a priority that one political affiliate over another should serve on the school board. I believe that ones offer to serve should be about making sure that every student receives a sound and basic education.
In order for our students to excel in remote learning, the school system should make sure that all students have Internet access to be able to participate in remote learning. The School system should be instrumental in ensuring that each student has access to computers. Staff development will be provided for teachers through zoom and parents will be encouraged to work closely with their child's teacher for questions and help with assignments. When parents spend time with helping their child through some of the processes, it is a part of parenting.
