Work with the executive branch to diret remaining CARES dollars to programs that provide critical services such as mental health and substance abuse counseling
During Supplemental Budget hearings work to protect those critical services
The current budget shortfall cannot be managed by only cutting expenditures. It is essential to improve revenue streams withn the most likely option being increased sales tax. Personally, I am currently working on draft for bills to implement either statewide or county option Real Extate Transfer taxes as well as a bill to tax unearned income (e.g. dividends, interest, capital gains)
I have supported Medicaid Expansion consistently since I joined the Legislature, and was the prime sponsor of a Medicad Expansion bill in 2018. I will continue to work for its passage by the Legislature.
