John D Ragan
In your view, what are the 3 biggest issues facing Tennessee?
What, if anything, do you think the state of Tennessee should do to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic?
1. Economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic induced recession.
2. Education recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic induced learning losses.
3. Comprehensive review of Tennessee's COVID-19 pandemic response and revision of current law and procedures as necessary.
At this point in time, Tennessee can do no more than has been done to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am running to help keep Tennessee on its upward trajectory from 9+% unemployment in 2010 when I took office to the 3.6% prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, I want to keep Tennessee's educational ranking increasing from 49th in 2010 to beyond its current 35th ranking. Moreover, I want to keep Tennessee as the lowest debt state in the US and the lowest taxed state in the nation as a percentage of personal income. Furthermore, I want to keep Tennessee ranked in the top five states in the US for doing business and keep our road systems in the top five as well. Tennessee is still fiscally stable and capable, even during the COVID-19 pandemic recovery efforts.
