Today our most important issues are supporting our residents and businesses during this pandemic. As a county as we have the resources to help businesses financially, continue testing of our residents, and to provide resources for those who are most vulnerable. On this note we've received close to one hundred million dollars from the CARES Act and this money has not been distributed in a manner that's transparent and expeditious. We need a Board of Commissioners that will allow the public to view disbursements of the CARES Act without submitting an OPRA Request and we also need to do it faster! Our businesses, especially our restaurants are struggling and dying each day and we need to get this money to them and with me on this board I can promise you that will happen!
Moving forward, it would make sense for Union County to have multiple testing sites throughout the county and have a plan in place that would allow for it. For example having an additional site in addition to Kean University on the western part of the county. Second, this county needs to do a better job of being more open, transparent, and expeditious in how they disburse federal funds to our struggling businesses. Each passing day that they waited was another day where funds that could have helped someone save their business, and if I'm in county government next year I can promise you that this will be a top priority of mine
