A pandemic. Economic Recession/Depression. Economic opportunity. Educational access, opportunity and affordability from preschool to college. Fair and equal housing. Access to adequate healthcare. Affordability of healthcare. Drug epidemic. Retention of young people.
Education. Healthcare. The Economy.
I aim to call all of my constituents and have a conversation with them about the issues that are important to them. I will talk to them about how to register to vote online and the importance of voting. I will explain to them how to apply for an absentee ballot if they are afraid or unable to reach the polls. I will ask them to get involved in whatever way they are able, great or small. I will explain to them that they can make a difference and express the importance of their vote. If the pandemic eases I will knock on their doors and meet them where they are to have the same conversations.
I will ask my constituents for the problems they see and what solutions they can imagine resolving these problems. I already have spoken to 10% of my voters and it seems bringing in jobs is at the top of their list. If this trend continues I will seek employers that would have the kind of businesses that would thrive in our area without damaging our way of life & try to make our communities seem attractive to them. If we can get widespread, reliable, affordable broadband access here there are many remote jobs to be had right now. I would encourage those with vision and special skills to be their own employers when possible. I would encourage all residents to support their local businesses, especially the small ones.
