Maine's greatest challenges are embedded in economic disparities. We need to make sure all policy work takes in to account it's effect on all people, but most especially our most vulnerable populations. Maine needs a strong social safety net. And, we need a clear lense through which we can evaluate all new legislative activity and how it will impact our environment. Maine needs to see how intrinsically tied together the issues of health, prosperity and climate change are for our woods and waters and well being of our citizens.
Access to affordable health care that is not employer based for all. Robust, free educational opportunities for all types learners from infant care through public university. A commitment to mitigating climate change one legislative action at a time.

And with all new legislation, we evaluate the impact it will have on people, place and planet.
This is a great question. As a business owner, I have led the way to offer voting day as a paid holiday for all my staff. I believe we must have transparency in all legislative work and would create encourage as much collaborative discussion within the district as possible. Weekly Zoom meetings, small, in-person coffee hours, and an open door at my farm will hopefully create a culture of inclusivity. Making sure I have multiple avenues of communication with constituents including social media, email, print media and regular mailings will hopefully aid in reaching many of the constituents in the district.
A broad assessment of the impact of COVID within the district would be the first step to understanding what comes next. A thorough look at all available resources we have access, including our business who thrived during the pandemic and are looking to expand. Child care will be one of the largest barriers to recovery for most families. Embracing the idea that early childhood care should be publicly funded is one step forward in process to helping young families get back to work. If the pandemic has taught us anything, its that working while homeschooling or providing 24 hour care for infants is near to impossible.
