Biographical Information

What is your number one priority and why?

How will you address the economic crisis that has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic?

Background My name is Amara Hildebrand and I am a Professional Civil Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering from Duke University. My husband and I are building a civil engineering and land surveying consulting business. I am also a proud mother of two school aged children.
I would support and help develop legislation to prohibit federal funds from supporting schools that are not teaching our American History as a whole. I believe that it is imperative for us to pass down all the facts of our nation's history in order for us to be a viable civilization for years to come. I believe that much of the violence we have experienced in this year alone is a product of several generations of people graduating high school without a proficiency in US history. While some of our history may be unsavory, obliterating it does not make it true. I believe that Social Media and the big technology companies have accelerated the propagation of misinformation that could lead us to Civil War.
I believe that social distancing measures should rely on voluntary compliance with much less government interaction and enforcement. I believe that the reaction to the pandemic has been more harmful than the disease, crippling small businesses and instigating significant mental instability. Policy responses to the pandemic should be simple, clear and system-wide.
