Prior to my present position, I was the Constituent Service Director for Congressman Gottheimer. Before my time with the Congressman, I was a staff member for District 37 Legislators for 12 yrs. Throughout the 12 yrs I worked on legislation, policy, Constituent services and Chief of Staff at the end of my tenure.

I am a very detail oriented individual which is a very good skill to have when dealing with numbers and budgets. My time as an Assembly staffer, has given me the ability and knowledge to work with groups to achieve consensus and compromise. These are skill that are essential in labor relations.
Our downtown has been affected by the Corona Virus, as our restaurants have suffered financially. Their survival is crucial to the financial stability of our town. I would work with other members of the governing body and our business community, in creating ways to expand their abilities to remain open during this time. Now that the wheather is getting colder and we are still at 25% capacity, restaurants need to ability to maintain the outdoor space. The governing body needs to support our businesses by creating zones that will allow for heating lamps and tent like structures.
Westwood is a welcoming town for all people no matter their race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. As a Latina woman, I felt welcomed my first day in town when neighbors from a street away, saw the moving truck and came by to welcome us with produce from their home garden. Our town flies the pride flag in June and we have marched through town and rallied for social justice . Communication and education are key in understanding the issues that everyone faces. Programs through our library and our recreation department can go a long way in helping people of all ages, understand their fellow man.
This is a problem affecting every municipality and there's no easy answer. I would support a rent freeze, but the duration of the freeze most be balance by the effect it would have on the owner of the property.
