Iowa can do more to address inequalities facing women. Iowa women are paid 77 cents for every dollar paid to men. I would support equal pay, as two out of three women are equal or sole breadwinners in their household.
· Expand Medicaid and fight back against privatization efforts · Fund rural healthcare centers and services · Protect those with preexisting conditions and senior citizens
· We must invest in our public schools, make healthcare more affordable and accessible, and create jobs with good wages and benefits. We must also expand access to broadband technology so our schools and workplaces can thrive in a global economy. · Any updates to our tax policies should include the following: · Balance the state budget, · Be fair and simple for all Iowans; and · Provide relief for the middle class.
Rural Americans have a storied history of hunting, sportsmanship and gun ownership -- Many members of my family hunt. But, gun violence is a growing epidemic in this country, and Iowa is not immune. I support common sense gun violence prevention legislation -- as does the vast majority of Americans and Iowans. We need universal background checks.

We also need more resources and better accessibility to mental health services in Iowa -- especially in our rural communities, where too often healthcare providers are closing and leaving us without these services. While increasing mental health services alone is not sufficient to curb gun violence, it is a critical component
We need to raise wages, ensure equal access to early childhood education through higher education, and reform the criminal justice system to address the racial disparities. I also support efforts to make courts more accessible for all Iowans. Strengthening restorative justice measures also needs to be part of the equation in promoting social and racial justice in our state.
