There are a couple of steps, among others, that can more readily achieve equality for women in Iowa. First of all, in Iowa it is illegal to pay women at a different rate as men for the same job. The problem is there is no transparency in wage dissemination. I would pass a law requiring all employers to make wage information transparent so that everyone may see if their wages are equal to their counterparts. Equal protections for women are also laid out in Iowa's Civil Rights code. Unfortunately, there are no teeth to enforce either civil rights or wage laws. I would hire additional investigators and give them greater authority to enforce existing and future laws.
