VOTE411 Voter Guide

Sea Bright Borough Council {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

SEA BRIGHT BOROUGH COUNCIL – Full Term – Vote for Two Sea Bright is governed under the Borough form of New Jersey municipal government. The governing body consists of a Mayor and a Borough Council comprising six council members, with all positions elected at-large on a partisan basis as part of the November general election. A Mayor is elected directly by the voters to a four-year term of office. The Borough Council consists of six members elected to serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with two seats coming up for election each year in a three-year cycle. The Borough form of government used by Sea Bright is a "weak mayor / strong council" government in which council members act as the legislative body with the mayor presiding at meetings and voting only in the event of a tie. The mayor can veto ordinances subject to an override by a two-thirds majority vote of the council. The mayor makes committee and liaison assignments for council members, and most appointments are made by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council.

Like many small towns, one of Sea Bright’s primary challenges is to balance the need to bring needed economic development but still maintain the unique quality of life we have all come to love. Smart economic development is needed to leverage our town’s natural beauty and appeal to attract the right kind of business to generate revenue to help stabilize property taxes to town while still keeping our character intact.

As a successful businessman who has worked with both private public entities for well over 20 years I have seen firsthand how other municipalities across the region have found creative ways to raise needed revenue without necessarily burdening already overtaxed families.

In addition, as the proud son of a retired LEO (Law Enforcement Officer), I learned from my father the value of public service and to respect and support our first responders. Given the fact that so many of our men and women in Blue are being unfairly scapegoated and stereotyped, I volunteered to put my name forward to serve and BACK. THE. BLUE.
As I mentioned above, Sea Brighters greatly appreciate and value the quality of life of being in a small beach town. Keeping the character of the Boro while enhancing our economic efforts are they key.
